Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver – Thursday only

Doyle LawsonWith over 35 albums to their credit, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver have multiple Grammy, Dove, ICM, IBMA and SPBGMA Award nominations, and are seven-time winners of IBMA’s Vocal Group of the Year.  Doyle Lawson received two nominations in the 17th Annual Inspirational Country Music (ICM) Awards held in Nashville on October 28, 2011, with fellow nominees including such country giants as George Strait and Carrie Underwood. Lawson also won two IBMA Awards in September, and was recently heralded by journalist Craig Havighurst as “one of music’s lions at this point.”

Of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver’s performance at the 2011 IBMA Awards Press Conference in August, which garnered three standing ovations from a sold-out crowd in Nashville, Havighurst wrote: “There was no question who was going to close the show. Doyle Lawson is one of music’s lions at this point, and when he came out in perhaps the most beautiful western jacket I’ve ever seen… he was a holy vision. … When DLQ, in quartet mode, nailed the final chorus of the a cappella gospel song “He Made It All Right,” I swear we were mainlining the holy spirit. You know how the word awesome gets overused and misused? Here’s where it applies.”

Legendary in the Bluegrass genre and called a “mandolin virtuoso” with “perfectly silken harmony” by The New York Times, Doyle Lawson also broke new ground in 2011 with a benchmark Children’s Hospital and Arena Tour, the first tour of its kind in any genre, combining National Anthem performances at major sporting arenas with performances for boys and girls at Children’s Hospitals in the same cities or regions.  The tour combines helping hospitalized children with inspiring national patriotism, and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver performed for nearly 108,000 people during six games in 2011 (not including live broadcast audiences for the NBA and NCAA games), as well as for children, families, and staff at four children’s hospitals.  Pretty impressive numbers from the little boy from Kingsport… who grew up to be a LEGEND.

Audie Blaylock & Redline - Mountain View Bluegrass Festival 2015 Spring Line-upThere  are  many  flavors  of  bluegrass,  but  none  so  delicious  as  what  you’ll  hear  on  Rural  Rhythm   Records’  I’m  Going  Back  To  Old  Kentucky  by  Audie  Blaylock  and  Redline.  My  personal  introduction   to  bluegrass  music  included  just  about  all  the  songs  featured  on  this  CD.  So,  they  hold  a  special   place  in  my  heart.  Absolutely  no  track  disappoints  the  listener.  How  can  that  be?   Audie  Blaylock,  along  with  Redline  members:  Patrick  McAvinue  (fiddle/vocals),  Reed  Jones   (bass/vocals),  and  Russ  Carson  (banjo)  comprise  a  wealth  of  talent  alone.  Add  special  guests  Del   McCoury,  Ronnie  McCoury,  Bobby  Osborne,  Lou  Reid,  Carl  Jackson,  Glen  Duncan,  and  Jason   Carter  to  the  mix  and  you  cannot  have  anything  less  than  a  truly  outstanding  piece  of  work.  These   extra-‐special  guest  artists  add  a  little  of  their  magic  to  every  single  track  on  the  CD.  Visit Audies Website!

Spring Street Bluegrass BandFriday & Saturday

spring-streetSpringStreet got their start in 1990 when founding members, Mike Williams and Steve Carroll, went to Eureka Springs, AR to see “The father of bluegrass music”, Bill Monroe, perform. The street next to the auditorium was named Spring street and so they simply chose that name as it seemed to fit well.
20 years later, the band has developed their own sound with a combination of bluegrass, gospel, folk, country, and even some classic rock-n-roll from time to time. This mix is finely served up “bluegrass” style.

SpringStreet has performed at many festivals in Oklahoma and the surrounding states. They are also veterans of television and radio in the area as well. Along with performing at these events, SpringStreet has also hosted their own show in Muskogee, OK called “Bluegrass On The Square”. Since this event has been so successful in bringing new fans to bluegrass, SpringStreet has begun to take this show on the road to other towns and events.

Monroe Crossing – Thursday, Friday & Saturday

Monroe CrossingNamed in honor of Bill Monroe, “The Father of Bluegrass Music,” Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their airtight harmonies, razor sharp arrangements, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites across the United States and Canada.

Based in Minnesota, the group plays an average of 125 shows a year at major venues and festivals, frequently for non-bluegrass audiences — and people often comment that they’d never really liked bluegrass music until they attended a Monroe Crossing concert!

Monroe Crossing is made up of five very distinct personalities with differing musical backgrounds and tastes, combining for a very unique ensemble sound. They are Derek Johnson: guitar, lead & harmony vocals; Lisa Fuglie: fiddle, mandolin, lead & harmony vocals; Matt Thompson: mandolin, fiddle, baritone vocals; Mark Anderson: bass & bass vocals; and David Robinson: banjo. Their paths crossed through the music of Bill Monroe so they like to say they had a “Monroe Crossing.”

Among their many honors, Monroe Crossing was selected to showcase at the 2007 International Bluegrass Music Association Convention and they were inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2007. The only bluegrass band ever nominated as “Artist of the Year” by the Minnesota Music Academy (MMA), Monroe Crossing won the 2003 MMA “Bluegrass Album of the Year” award. The group also took home four awards — for Female Vocalist, Guitar, Mandolin and Banjo — at the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association’s 25th Anniversary Awards Banquet.

Chigger Hill Boys -Thursday & Friday

The Chigger Hill Boys & Terri formed in late summer of 2001, originating in the Hendersonville, TN area, as a result of a songwriting session including Mike Richards and Terri Argot Gore. The group name is derived from a spot in Burkesville, KY, called Chigger Ridge. The band signed a recording contract with Thoroughbred Records, a division of Daywind Music Group in early 2002.

Now nearly two decades and multiple Dove Award Nominations later, there have been some personnel changes, but the message and the humor remain the same. The group continues to play and create strictly Gospel / Bluegrass music. The members maintain a fun-lovin’ and crowd-pleasin’ attitude focused on the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
